Our client is an international legal firm who are very prestigious and among the top 20 in the UK. Recently they have made Asia their focus for growth and have committed significant resources to invest heavily in this region. Due to rapid expansion, a newly created role has arisen for a Financial Controller – Greater China and Hong Kong region, to be based in their Hong Kong office.

THE JOB:

• Being the number two person of finance in the region, you will be fully in charge of the day-to-day accounting, financial reporting , budgeting and forecasting, manage working capital
• Ensure compliance with local accounting policies ad statutory requirements
• Liaise with UK Headquarters, and perform calculations of Partners’ financials, tax reserving etc
• Help to provide profitability analysis, recommendations and advice on financial matters
• Develop financial awareness of Partners and Associates
• Liaise with auditors, tax advisors and relevant authorities
• Take part in international finance managers meetings to work on common projects and develop best practices

REQUIREMENTS:

• Qualified accountant, preferrably from a Big 4 background, with experience in a managerial position in an in-house finance role
• Ideal candidates will be from a legal or professional services firm, with solid understanding of the partnership and/ or billings environment
• Previous experience  in leading small to medium sized teams is a must
• Have the gravitas to deputise for the Head of Finance in their absence
• Excellent people skills to interact with partners in a diplomatic and convincing manner
• Flexibility and adaptability to face the challenges of a fast growing enterprise
